Forres makes a great base for your
stay as there is plenty to explore and experience in the beautiful Moray Firth
area such as historical monuments, castles,
white sandy beaches, forest walks, Moray Firth dolphins, Game shooting, clay
pigeon shooting, quad biking, mountain biking, horse riding, water sports,
winter sports and
fishing in the local lochs and rivers.
Speyside home to the world famous malt whisky trail and no visit to Moray is complete without visiting and sampling some of Scotland's "water of life". On Forres' doorstep is Benromach, an award winning whisky. The distillery has a visitor centre and is open for tours. Also nearby is Dallas Dhu Historic Distillery run by Historic Scotland. You can step back in time to see and hear how whisky was made in the 1900s. Moray is also home to many other including Glenfiddich, Glenlivet, Cardhu and many more.
The area is also renowned for it's
world-class food including Walker's famous shortbread and Baxter’s Highland
Village and the world famous Johnstons Woollen Mill who have been making cashmere and fine woollen cloth, knitwear and accessories in Scotland since 1797. As well as their clothing shop for women, men, children and babies there is also a Home Interiors department and Cafe and they also offer Mill Tours.
For younger children, a visit to the Landmark Forest Theme Park at Carrbridge is
recommended. The Park is only 30 minutes drive away and is one of Scotland's
favourite heritage parks with wild water coaster, giant adventure playground,
treetop trail, steam powered sawmill, microworld exhibition, mini cars,
remote-controlled trucks, fun maze, shop, restaurant and snack bar.

international endangered animals in the spectacular setting of the Highland
Wildlife Park including Polar Bears and Snow leopards to Amur Tigers, Scottish wildcats and Capercaillies and many more.
For the more active visitor, Forres has many sporting facilities, including
football fields, two bowling clubs, swimming pool and fitness centre, squash
courts, all-weather tennis courts and a leisure centre, which caters for
badminton, archery, gymnastics, bowling and basketball.
For the golf enthusiasts, there is no shortage of golf courses in the Moray
coast area and all offer very different experiences and challenges. With 19
courses within an hours drive from Forres, including two 18 hole courses in
Forres, you will not be disappointed.
Forres is also perfectly located to
explore other areas which may be of interest such as Inverness (30 minutes
away), Aberdeen (90 minutes away), Aviemore (40 minutes away) and all the
picturesque villages in between. Please also note that the train station at
Forres is only a 2 minute walk from the accommodation.
